Garden |
The Community Garden is located behind TC Dance in Kendallville. The garden itself it just under an acre of land, donated by Slater Concrete to help provide fresh produce to the Community Table and to area foodbanks. Because of the size of the garden, there is always a need for individuals and groups to help with weeding, harvesting, and so on. Operation Foundation is a faith-based volunteer effort designed to address the physical, cultural and spiritual needs of the community. It is a week long cleanup and restoration project focused primarily on the downtown and surrounding residential areas in Ligonier.
In 2007, we had 242 volunteers donate over 3500 hours of their time. The second year of Operation Foundation in 2008 brought out 384 volunteers performing 5900 hours of work. With a population of about 4500 people, this was a major undertaking, and an overwhelming success.
